Placement in a ranked list. Most Bookmarked and Highest Scored are computed from what people actually do, and no amount of money moves a coffee up either one. Paid placement lives in its own clearly marked rail, and that is the only place it lives. A ranking you can buy is worth nothing to a reader, and a reader who does not trust the rankings is worth nothing to you.
